The Typography Manual App Reviews

An OK start

This is a good start as a reference tool for graphic design students--but in some cases misses the mark on being comprehensive. Elementary topics such as proof readers marks, the ability to view type specimens in more than one point size (and in papragraph form), vertical alignmnt rules, and better examples to heirarchy rules are missing. The all too condensed "brief history" should be expanded. There are major milestones that were omitted from the this section. To leave them out, only shortchanges the general public from understanding how typography has evolved to present day.

Not very useful

Why would I want to read about typography on my iPhone? Ive got books for that. I was hoping for cheat sheets for dingbats and symbols, a calculator for converting pixels and picas, etc... the things you cant remember and need to look up. I found the app Convert for conversion instead.

Very handy

This needs to be in every designers back pocket. Its a great start, and I hope they really develop it- this is a fine app but it could be SO much more.

Updates

Will there be any updates soon???

Why limit to iOS 4?

I have enjoyed this application -- but now it requires iOS 4, rather than smoothly downgrading for older software. Plenty of folks I know are sticking with OS 3 on their older iPhones. Why make the decision to lock us out from continuing to enjoy The Typography Manual?

What?

This is a really awesome app! But, the current pricing of $3.99 is ridiculous for an app that only talks about typography. Please change it to the original $0.99.

Love this app!

Its a great resource to have around for serious designers. More than once Ive shown it to non-designers to tell them the right way to do things. Wish it was better on the iPad.

bug

there is a problem that came up after i downloaded ios5 where the font size calculator does not show up when i open it.

Its back!

Thanks a million. This app is a fantastic resource which ive been waiting to recommend again to students and colleagues.

Great resource

In the morning when I sit in my car, procrastinating going in to work, I sometimes sit and browse the Typography Manual to see what new thing I can learn. Love it. I would love to see the interface updated someday, but that is a minor issue. It works and is useful. What more could I ask for?
